A Brief Essay on a Concrete Representation of Thought

You are an artist. You have a thought. You pick up something to draw with – a pen, pencil, crayon, whatever. You put your tool onto a chosen surface, probably but not necessarily paper. You think. And think and think and think. Your head and shoulder and elbow and wrist and fingers move with your thoughts.

Occasionally you try to negate your thoughts with an eraser or by covering them up with media. This is also a thought and it is in evidence.

Drawing is demonstrable thinking. It is not an abstraction.

Drawing is a concrete representation of thought.

Drawing is comfort. For those who draw they know this is true. When you draw you are in a place that you do not doubt, but you do. You do not have worries, but you do. You are not conscious of your thoughts, but you are. You can see them as they make their mark. Your mark.

Everyone should draw.
